Access Advertising & Public Relations Captures District ADDY

Roanoke Earthquake Relief Campaign Wins Silver Award in Three-state Competition

ROANOKE (April 1, 2010)— Access Advertising & Public Relations won a silver ADDY® award in the American Advertising Federation’s District 3 competition, recently judged in Winston-Salem, NC. District 3 ADDYs honor the work of advertising agencies and students located in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Access was recognized for its Roanoke Earthquake Relief campaign, a lighthearted look at the “devastating” effects of the Roanoke region’s 2.6 scale earthquake on May 16, 2009. The campaign, which included web, social media, and custom T-shirts, served as a fundraiser for the Roanoke Valley YMCA.

Earlier this month, Access was awarded 13 ADDYs in Western Virginia ADFed’s regional competition, representing the highest total ADDYs received by a Roanoke Valley agency in 2010.
In addition, work created by Access’ Tony Pearman and Rachel Spencer with their Roanoke AAF CreateAthon team was awarded an impressive four gold and four silver ADDYs at the District level. The Children’s Trust campaign, Recession Hurts, was created pro bono during a single 24-hour marathon creative session held last September.

The American Advertising Federation, a not-for-profit industry association conducts the ADDY® Awards through its 200 member advertising clubs and 15 districts. With more than 60,000 entries annually, the ADDY® Awards are the world’s largest advertising competition and the only creative competition held by the advertising industry for its peers.
